About the Designer: I grew up in Woodinville Washington and have lived in the same house my whole life with my loving parents and sister. Growing up I would always spend my time drawing with my mom, and renovating houses with my dad on the weekends. With my love of drawing, and love for renovating houses, choosing architecture as my major seemed like the perfect fit for me. I am a third generation Coug, so choosing to go to Washington State University for my degree in Architecture was a no brainer. I am loving every minute of school at WSU, and enjoyed my internship at Stock & Associates over the summer even more. Learning what Architecture is like in the real world, made me even more excited for my future career in Architecture. My goal is to design personalized homes, I believe that architecture is about creating a physical memory for someone, and designing someone’s home is the best memory I think you can create for someone.
My Project is a portable, slide-able, and modular homeless shelter. It has the capabilities to become the needed height for a person to stand in, sleep in and do daily activities. It has slide-able walls to let in light, air or create an open space for residency. It has moveable boxes for storage that pull in and out to create a table and chairs for occupant. It allows the occupant to explore their own creativity and express themselves through their shelter. This shelter will give them the opportunity to support themselves, as well as combine multiple together to form a shelter for multiple people. The shape can transform to fit the space and user’s needs. It is appealing to the public and gives the occupant feeling the sense of home.
